Fee schedule

Submission fees

Our basic submission fee is $75. A member of the Society for Economic Theory may submit one paper per year without charge. The basic submission fee is reduced to $35 for a paper for which all of the authors are permanently employed at institutions not in high-income countries (see our list).

The size of the submission fee paid by an author is not known to the Editorial Board, and consequently has no effect on the way in which a paper is handled. Please note that the submission fee paid by an author is not refundable. In particular, it is not refunded if a paper is rejected, even if the paper is rejected without being sent to referees. Membership fees are also not refundable, even if the free submission they allow has not been used.

Publication fees

Authors of accepted papers who use LaTeX (either directly or via Scientific Word) and adhere substantially to our format guidelines will pay no publication fee. Our expectation is that these guidelines are sufficiently close to standard practice that most authors will find it easy to comply with them. Authors of accepted papers who do not adhere substantially to the guidelines will be charged a publication fee as follows:
  • Papers in TeX or LaTeX: $5 per journal page.
  • Papers not in TeX or LaTeX: $10 per journal page.
